First month of Lin4Carbon field work

At the end of February 2013,  the Lin4Carbon project fieldwork started. The current field team consists of  scientist and students of  Göttingen University, Freiburg University, Chinese Academy of  Forestry and Anhui Agricultural University  from Germany, China, Australia and Spain. At present, the team is working jointly on the research sites in Shitai County to conduct a forest inventory on the forest stands selected from those under the Sustainable Forest Management scheme, which started in 2007. A certain number of trees will be selected and felled for detailed biomass and stem discs measurements.

An alternative? Castanopsis glauca. Not only a good timber species.
